Il Municipality of Pescara authorized the selective collection of wild boars through a special ordinance which commits i hunters hired for hunting. The mayor Marco Alessandrini has issued this resolution which must be made operational in safe conditions for the entire population, as well as enforced by the former Provincial Police and by the Forestry Carabinieri. Hunting became necessary after noting that the presence of ungulates it is massive and uncontrolled: the damage to agricultural crops is enormous and the risks to public safety have become increasingly high.
Citizens' reports have registered an important increase, but despite this data no damage prevention activities are yet in place and to prevent risky situations, in particular close to residential areas. The methods of collection and killing of wild boars are a direct responsibility of the competent police body, called a also take care of the fate of the culled animals and the possible performance of health monitoring activities.
The areas of the Abruzzo city that are most at risk are those of Old Fontanelle Street and the surrounding areas, including lately and in particular Via San Donato.
