It was now a few hours before protest demonstration organized by hunting associations of Sardinia a Cagliari against the attitude of the institutions on the closing date of the hunting season. The parade was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 21 January 2017, but a new official statement from the organizers announced that it was canceled and postponed to a later date. Most likely it will take place next March.
What happened to get the date changed? The representatives of the same associations met the regional councilor for the Defense of the Environment, Donatella Spano, in the Wildlife Committee after the invitation from the same department. The Sardinia Region reiterated the difficulty in making itself responsible for actions that would be sanctioned by the European Union, while the representatives of the hunters insisted on the request to convene the Regional Fauna Committee.
Among other things, this request is legitimate and appropriate and serves precisely to formalize the extension of the hunting collection of some species, including thrushes and woodcocks, until the next one 31st January. Eventually, moreover, the days that are not normally used could be exploited. However, legal avenues remain possible and each individual association will evaluate how to behave over the next few weeks.
