Some rumors are suggesting an early closure of the hunting activity also in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The conditional is in any case a must: the regional councilor for Local Authorities, Paul Panontin, would be willing to sign the decree for the suspension of hunting: specifically, it would be the sampling of song thrushes, woodcocks and cesene. Furthermore, Panontin would be ready to intervene after the Minister of the Environment, Gianluca Galletti, has sent in the last hours a official note to all Italian regions.
The replicas of the hunting associations were not long in coming. Paul Viezzi, number one of the Federcaccia Friuli, explained that an early closure of the hunt can only be valid after publication in the Regional Official Bulletin, while the transmission of the note does not have the same value. According to Viezzi, the hunt will continue regardless of what the commissioner will sign.
Among other things, the regional president believes that it would be an illegitimate measure, as it lacks the opinion of the Fauna Committee. In case there should be a signature. Federcaccia Friuli Venezia Giulia will challenge the decision before the Regional Administrative Court, asking the local authority for damages for an unlawful early suspension.
