La Regional Council of the Aosta Valley officially approved the hunting calendar on the 2017-2018 season. During the day yesterday, Monday 17 July 2017, some important innovations were introduced, as announced by the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. What is it specifically about? The most interesting innovation is undoubtedly the simplification of the taking classes of ungulates, a modification that should facilitate the reduction of damage caused by wild animals.
In addition, it was decided to increase the number of dogs which can be used for the wild boar hunting. The Becca d'Aver hunting area (between the Valtournenche and the Vallone di Saint-Barthélemy) was reduced with the consequent restoration of the territorial portion of Nus in free hunting, so as to put a stop to the damage of wild boars.
The Aosta Valley calendar then includes the"carnet" option: in practice, each hunter who will be the holder of carnet A (ungulates), B (lagomorphs) and C (galliformes) will be able to take part in seasonal collective outings with a hunter who has another carnet, while maintaining his own specialization. Finally, the possible shift of one month of the period in which the woodcock can be hunted.
