As disclosed by the Regional Federcaccia of Sardinia, just yesterday, Wednesday 26 September 2018, there was the official modification of the island hunting calendar as regards the 2018-2019 season. The decree of the Region has established two details of no small importance. First of all, the hunt for the Sardinian hare and partridge will be suspended throughout the Sardinian territory from next September 30th to October 7th following. Furthermore, hunting samplings will be allowed in the same period for the whole day, i.e. from 6:45 am to 19:45 pm.
In the last few years, the Fauna Committee asked for clarifications to theISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) on hares and partridges, in order to simultaneously transmit the report of theUniversity of Sassari which is carrying out studies and research in collaboration with the Region.
In the opinion given on the 2018-2019 regional hunting calendar, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research had expressed its appreciation for the start of the collection data on consistency and reproductive success of the populations of Sardinian Partridge and Sardinian Hare in sample areas of Sardinia and for the intention of the Region to carry out censuses within the areas in concession for the self-managed hunting, functional to the preparation of withdrawal plans. The Sardinian "soap opera" will probably be enriched with new episodes.
