THEringing is continuing in a fast manner at the "Bocca di Caset" station, in the province of Trento. On August 19, in particular, several species were captured after a few days of decidedly contained pace. As reported by the same structure, in fact, they were ringed a scops owl and a tawny owl ("red" variant). There was not even one having a small one complete with a powerful and sharp beak despite its young age.
The list was completed by a flycatcher, a woodcock and a young kestrel. On August 20, the catches were equally interesting and varied: it is another small shrike, a stiff neck, two brushwoods and four different species of wolves. On the other hand, an adult male of a hawk required a greater alertness. Furthermore, on 22 August it was the turn of a house martin, a bunting and a prispolone.
Among other things, two days ago the volunteers ringed the third nuthatch of the season, a colorful passerine typical of the Trentino woods. The number is not surprising, also because we are talking about a well-spread species in a large swath of the Eurasian continent. In the coming days there will be further updates on the catches, other valuable information in view of the hunting season 2018-2019 that is about to begin.
