The activities of the ringing station of the Mount Pizzoc, in the province of Treviso. The assembly took place last September 15 and the catches will end next 1 November. The logistics have been enriched this year with a large solar panel, a tank to recover rainwater and a professional weather station. The weather has definitely made a fuss these days and the opening was characterized by the capture of a black redstart, the very first specimen.
However, the weather continues to be still summer and beautiful on Pizzoc and some signs of migration have been recorded. In particular, the first robins and the first song thrushes have been sighted at dawn. Several were also noted house martins on the pass, without forgetting the various prispoloni.
The last daily catches were 40, embellished by the first wheatear and a series of trans-Saharan species that bode well for the next few weeks. The main data is undoubtedly that relating to song thrush. The first sightings of this species in post-nuptial migration are fundamental for the hunting activity. In addition to Monte Pizzoc, the initial ringing of these specimens concerned the Arosio station, in the province of Como (FEIN Observatory).
