From Thursday 7 November the hunt for waterfowl in the pre-Park area adjacent to Canna Valley, the area affected by the Botox epidemic between September and October which caused the death of thousands of birds. The Park Authority has revoked the suspension of thehunting activities relating to water birds in a large perimeter around the protected area.
The decision, explains the Park, "awaited for a few days and requested by several subjects and entities, including the Emilia-Romagna Region, follows the indications contained in the opinion of Ispra broadcast to the Po Delta Park last October 25th.
As stated in the Ispra opinion and reported in the revocation provision, 'from the point of view of water management, the provision of water from the River Rhine on an exceptional basis has allowed an increase in the level of the valley with a consequent presumable contribution to the improvement of the epizootic evolution following the dilution of the propagation agents' ”. The level of vigilance “will however remain high over the next few months and the area will be constantly monitored in order to avoid any recurrence of the phenomenon ".
