Hunting in Veneto: Hon. Sergio Berlato writes to the Executive and the Regional Council on the question of exemptions: the usual twenty-year-old threats from animal rights activists.
With a letter sent to the members of the Regional Council and the Veneto Region, the Hon. Sergio Berlato invited the Region to proceed without hesitation with the approval of the provision that will allow the application of the derogation regime in Veneto for the 2012/2013 season.
We read from the press - writes the Hon. Sergio Berlato - yet another threat used by some animal rights activists to intimidate the regional councilors and councilors in order to make them desist from approving the provision that should allow the correct application of the derogation regime in Veneto for the 2012/2013 hunting year.
The tactic of threatening individual councilors and regional councilors to charge them the cost of a hypothetical and unlikely sanction applied by the European Union against Italy, - continued the Hon. Sergio Berlato - has been used several times over the last twenty years. In fact, it should be remembered that Italy has never been called upon to pay even one euro of fine because of the Veneto hunters.
I therefore invite the Regional Council and the members of the IV Council Commission to proceed without hesitation with the approval of the provision that will allow, in the absence of a specific regional law, the correct application of the derogation regime in Veneto, in compliance with Directive 2009/147 / EC, (still in force), of the state law 221/2002 and of the regional law 24/2007, still in force and never subject to infringement proceedings.
The only thing missing is that, after the vicissitudes to which they were subjected with the still unresolved "question of stalking for hunting use", after the repeated suspensions to the regional hunting calendar, after having paid onerous government concession fees to which are added the same onerous regional concession fees, in addition to the fees for access to ATCs and Alpine districts and the fees for issuing authorization for stalking, hunters in the Veneto were also deprived of the right to hunt in derogation, an opportunity explicitly provided for by the regulations in force.
Courage, esteemed councilors and regional councilors: - the Hon. Sergio Berlato - every assignment involves duties and honors. Veneto hunters expect an act of consistency and responsibility from you.
