When the Hunt becomes a source of shame. The Rimini municipal administration backs off and withdraws its patronage from the “1st Sant'Uberto Trophy” dog competition organized by Federcaccia. The Municipality: "No more patronage to hunters".
The controversies of the last few days about the "First Sant'Uberto City of Rimini Trophy" organized by Federcaccia on 13 and 14 June 2015, dog test on sedentary game. At first the Municipality had granted patronage to the event but the decision had sparked the ire of the animal rights activists. Already last Friday the Rimini municipal administration had distanced itself from the event but in recent days the Municipality has decided to take a sharp backtrack by manifesting, with the words of Councilor Sadegholvaad, all its shame in associating the Municipality of Rimini at the Hunting and to the Hunters, “We thought it was a race where yes train dogs and instead they shoot animals. Granting patronage was a mistake and even if hunting is legal, the Municipal Administration will no longer tie its name to the "shotguns".
The Councilor then explains better, “Given that the event is legitimate because hunting is legal in Italy, the patronage was a mistake as it was intended that it was a simple dog training competition (without shooting). In the future, patronage will no longer be granted to such events (as many other municipalities in Italy regularly do). But it must be clear that even without sponsorship these competitions can be held legitimately ”.
The president of the Federcaccia di Rimini, Walter Ricchi, was very embittered, who with his own letter to the Corriere wanted to express all the indignation of hunters for being equated every time with criminals and murderers.
