Wild boar hunting: Sardinia, NO to Thursday hunting day; Sardinian hunters do not like the idea, the Committee speaks Hunting Big.
Discontent among Sardinian companies is growing over the opening of the hunting calendar Letter to the Region: “It is absolutely not true that there are too many wild boars in our countryside”. Again a clear NO. It is the decided "NO" of the companies to the ventilated hypothesis of an opening of the "big game" even on Thursdays.
It is the big game committee no Thursday to take the floor again, after the regional meeting of recent days in Macomer. An opportunity to take stock: 31 companies, or 411 Sardinian hunters, joined on 11.000 August. Numbers that are constantly growing.
"Last July, after the decisions taken by the Crf in its first meeting, a general discontent began among the companies of wild boar hunting from all over Sardinia - they write in a letter sent to the Region and to the Wildlife Committee -. We are firmly convinced that the eventual decision to open the boar hunt also on Thursday will be devastating and will put an end to the harmony in and between the countries, at the same time producing the inevitable disintegration of the teams and irreparably destroying what has been hard built in so many. years. Big game hunting in Sardinia was and is an activity that is rooted in all our local realities, it is much more than a simple hunting activity ".
“The big game - explain those of the Committee - means aggregation, it means cultural exchanges, it means socialization, it means tradition, it means culture and rootedness. But the big game means above all "hunting company". In some Sardinian municipalities, the post office may be missing, the ATM or the petrol station may be missing, but at least one big game company is never missing. The companies will not go hunting wild boar on Thursdays but will only give the opportunity to hunt in small groups that will inevitably form, feeling protected by the law, will make a big voice against those who with dedication and sacrifice have kept a number up. indeterminate number of people, thus stimulating easily deducible attitudes and modus operandi ".
According to our experience as connoisseurs of our countryside, it is absolutely not true that there are too many wild boars, at least in most cases; in fact, the largest concentrations of wild boars are found in the permanent oases, in the various repopulation and capture areas established by the provinces, all areas where, even if the hunt is open on Thursday, it will never be possible to hunt. The solution to the problem is not found by increasing the collection days, but by bringing intelligent and qualitative solutions, such as targeted withdrawals where necessary, and hunting interventions in restricted areas, such as oases and various demani, with the sure advantage in favor of the containment of the ungulate in general and, last but not least, to the advantage of the noble sedentary ".
"We personally believe - insist the members of the Big Game Committee" no Thursday "- that harvesting interventions in the areas mentioned above, two in December and two in January, would be highly productive and it would also result in wild boars being pushed to outside the protected areas entering the free territories with the certain result of being able to be collected in the following days. It is true that the "damages" called into question in this last period, are recorded for 90% in the areas adjacent to the forbidden areas or in its vicinity, useless and only harmful therefore the 27 days, there is no logic to trample and trample the same areas when there are immense forbidden areas ".
"We reiterate - the hunters conclude - that the companies will not go hunting on Thursdays and in respect of the Sardinians, we sincerely hope that you will use your position and your power to protect what has been achieved so far, taking seriously the laws unwritten, laws of great value and power ”.
