The closing of the hunting period of the wild boar species is postponed in Umbria from January 17 to 31st January next. This is what the Regional Council of Umbria, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting Roberto Morroni, approving the modification of the 2020/2021 hunting calendar. The extension was decided in order to partially recover the hunting days lost as a result of travel restrictions imposed by the Dpcm for the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, following which the collection of the wild boar was practically suspended for about a month between November and early December, making it impossible to complete the abatement plans for the management of the species, essential to contain its spread and reduce the damage caused to agricultural production.
The modification to the calendar of the hunting season, which obtained the favorable opinion of theIspra - Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, will allow the abatement plans to continue in compliance with national legislation. The extension of the period of hunting wild boar had also been solicited with motions and questions in Legislative Assembly.
