After the hearings with hunting associations, agricultural associations and territorial hunting areas, the Third council commission of Umbria Region, chaired by Eleonora Pace, continued the work on the new regulation for the selection hunt which must include the wild boar species, again in the presence of the regional councilor Roberto Morroni. The commissioner first countered the declarations of some hunting associations which, in the previous hearing, had complained about the lack of agreement with the new regulation: "The draft - he said - was presented on May 28 last year in the Hunting Faunal Council, where those present were invited to submit their observations within a reasonable amount of time.
Subsequently, on 23 September, there was another meeting where the observations deemed relevant were acknowledged and an account was also given to all stakeholders of the reasons why other comments were not accepted. I am sorry that someone is suffering from amnesia, certainly in good faith, however we can still accept further proposals for changes. As soon as the Commission has fired the opinion on the regulation, the next day we will convene a table with territorial hunting areas, hunting associations, agricultural associations and also the President of the competent commission, to testify a joint effort on the theme of the containment of wild boars and the damage caused by them.
I remember that by extending the selection hunt to ungulates to wild boars we are equipping the Umbria Region with something that was not there and that irrefutably goes to attack the problem of damage caused by these animals with a further tool, that of selective culling, of the fight against proliferation, which must therefore be welcomed; let us not cloud this aspect with some legitimate observations and let us remember that concertation is not dictating the agenda of those who have to decide. All things are perfectible - he concluded -, but be careful not to go after the finger instead of the moon, which is to equip our region with an effective tool that will require a strong commitment to hunting associations, the training of hunters and a greater commitment to raising awareness and hiring responsibility".
The latest suggestions, after those of Associations at Atc, were those of the Lega group that Valerio Mancini, as both regional councilor and president of the Second Commission, involved in the hearings, and the Umbrian head of the League for hunting, handed over to councilor Morroni. The president Eleanor Peace he recalled that the Commission had asked for a table open to all and this happened, then he stressed that "it takes common sense on the part of everyone to find the most shared position possible and to be able to stem a phenomenon that is becoming unsustainable”, Announcing that in the session next week the obligatory, albeit not binding, opinion of the commission will be issued.
