In the panorama of the numerous trade fairs and media events that have been dotted over the last few months, Ungulate world it was the surprise everyone was waiting for. Arezzo Fiere e Congressi hosted the event over the weekend, offering visitors a very functional, spacious and usable area. Divided into two macro areas ("Hunt in hunt"and "Selection hunting") Defined enough to allow events and conferences to be held simultaneously but close enough to allow visitors to take advantage of the information offer without downtime, in a perfectly timed, rich and varied program. The topics covered were varied and very "hot": coexistence between hunted and selection hunting for wild boar, the increasingly emerging role of the retrieving dog and the figure of the retriever, the treatment of remains and the safe supply chain of meat intended for an ever wider consumption, the training and safety of dogs in the exercise of hunting, and many others. Among the speakers there are numerous authoritative figures, experts and historical names of the dog world and of the ars venandi in all forms related to the kaleidoscopic world of ungulates.
There were interesting moments in which well-known chefs tried their hand at using noble game as a raw material for tasty, healthy and modern recipes.
In the rings of the respective thematic areas it was possible to admire splendid specimens of the specialist breeds of the individual forms of hunting ungulates. The characteristics of the hounds, in all their forms, have been exhaustively illustrated by the most authoritative judges ENCI. The tests of obedience of the track dogs have enchanted and left open-mouthed for the qualities of intelligence and connection with the handler.
More than a fair, Ungulate world it was a great opportunity to get to know, to meet, to exchange knowledge and experiences, on an enormously rich and complex world, destined to grow and become, if not already, the future of hunting. Text by Pina Apicella and photos by Vincent Frascino.
