WWF Foggia, ACLI Ambiente and the Center for Naturalistic Studies asked the Management Committee of theTerritorial area of Apulian hunting to cancel the resolution of last April 18 by which the annual hunting permits in every day. As specified by the associations, this total conversion is a custom and this time it will concern 800 permits relating to migratory game to be reserved for hunters from outside Puglia.
The 800 permits will become 16 thousand per day. The request was also addressed to the Secretary General of the Province, to the Prefect of Foggia and to the managers of the Hunting and Fishing Service. Above all, there is a fear of an uncontrolled increase in the number of hunters, moreover without ties to the local territory. The calculation was done by multiplying by 20 (the number of hunting days) the 800 annual permits.
Without changing anything the hunting pressure would be much lower, to the benefit of environmental and wildlife protection. Here is the reason for the cancellation request. The environmental associations and the Study Center are convinced that there will be days with a number of extra-regional hunters above the limit of 800, as happened in October 2015 (1306 permits were issued in one hunting day).
Another feared scenario is that of a "Hit and run hunting tourism", penalizing towards hotel and food and wine offers. The request ends with what could be the reason for the daily permits, that is the response to a component of the ATC in which one would speak of not very consistent receipts.
