The 2014-2015 Hunting Calendar of the Liguria Region was partially suspended by the TAR following yet another environmental appeal. Bruzzone, “State credibility problem”.
Hunting in Liguria, another stop arrives, The Regional Administrative Court of Liguria, with sentence number 1206 filed yesterday evening, canceled some parts of the resolution of the Regional Council of Liguria last 8 April, which approved the contents of the new Hunting Calendar valid for the 2014-2015 Hunting Season. The measure had received 21 favorable votes from the Democratic Party and Forza Italia. Upon appeal by the associations for the protection of fauna and the environment (WWF, Lega Abolizione Caccia, Lipu, Vas, Enpa, Lav), sponsored by the law firm of Professor Daniele Granara, three parties were annulled with a judgment on the merits. The first concerns the training of hunting dogs in the area: it cannot start on August 15, but only from the first days of September, as the Region has eluded the mandatory scientific opinion of Ispra (Higher Institute for the protection and environmental research) on the need not to cause early disturbance to wildlife and to the young born of some wild species before the opening of the hunt on the third Sunday of September.
The second is related to the hunting of ungulates (roe deer, fallow deer, chamois, wild boar): it must be carried out with non-toxic ammunition (so-called monolithic balls generally in copper) to avoid contamination of the meat with tiny fragments of lead balls, based on numerous recent toxicological studies highlighted by Ispra himself. Also for the last hunting season the Tar Liguria had formulated similar complaints.
Thirdly, the failure to indicate a game bag (maximum number of animals that can be killed daily) for some species, including the "wood pigeon", a wild species intensely hunted in autumn from raised boxes in various coastal areas of Liguria. A number of pieces that can be killed daily must be fixed. The Region and four hunting associations were formed in court. "A less contemptuous attitude of the former regional councilor Briano and of the main political forces would have allowed the drafting of a provision more adherent to the needs of protection of the fauna and the legitimacy of the act", comment the applicant associations.
Following the decision of the Tar on the new regional hunting calendar the regional councilor of the Northern League and Hunter, Francesco Bruzzone, hoped, “A new Hunting Calendar will be approved with a legislative provision. This time the truth will have to emerge ”. Bruzzone continued, “The TAR has expressed itself on the merits, gave precise and much clearer indications than the vague suspensions we were used to. On the merits, some observations are not very substantial, as regards the daily game bag of some species, or for the start date of dog training ".
The Northern League councilor then expressed himself on the issue of lead ammunition, "More problematic, in terms of content, is the ban on the use of lead ammunition for hunting ungulates and, in this regard, I note that in support of this prohibition the TAR speaks of a generic danger of lead, also referring to the successful elimination of fuels: if this generic principle of lead toxicity were to pass, I wonder how many Ligurian and Genoese houses would be that should be evacuated because they are served by public water through lead pipes. Therefore, the topic deserves a much broader reflection, and above all clarifications of an agri-food, chemical and environmental nature that go beyond the judgments of a legal nature. It is also curious to learn that any type of dog, excluding those owned by hunters, can be released in the countryside at any time of the year. A sort of discrimination for those who are hunters, almost paradoxical ".
The proposal of the Regional Councilor of the Carroccio following the decision of the TAR is to "Re-deliberate, following the necessary procedures, a new Hunting Calendar through a legislative provision, as indicated by the Regional Council itself with the unanimous approval of a specific agenda that took place a few months ago. This, to give due certainty to those who will hunt next season, and in the coming weeks to pay state and regional taxes, insurance policies, social participation fees, participation fees in territorial hunting areas, and in alpine areas. ".
"The procedure has already begun, thanks to the precautionary deposit of a bill by the undersigned which took place a few weeks ago: this time the truth will have to emerge, and the position of the majority that governs the Region will be unmasked", said Francesco Bruzzone.
