Yesterday, Thursday 17 May 2018, the Regional Council of Liguria he experienced quite intense moments due to the discussion of different topics concerning hunting. In addition to presentation of the hunting calendar on the 2018-2019 seasonthe region's proposal to abolish taxes for neo-hunters attracted good attention. The Giunta Toti intends to avoid payment to new members, which means that for the first year the usual 90 euros will not be paid.
The initiative was made known by the regional councilor Stefano Mai. This is a tax relief that could curb the decline in enrollments. The hunters registered in Liguria are fewer and fewer and according to the latest estimates they would have dropped from 20 thousand to 15 thousand units. The negative trend has been recorded from 2012 to today, with a decrease of 25 percentage points in the space of six years to be precise.
On average there are 200 Ligurian hunters who register every year and in this way the local authority fails to collect 18 thousand euros. The goal is also to reduce the average age. The hunting activity does not concern young people very closely and this initiative could be a useful incentive in this sense.
