The Associations belonging to the Control Room of the Tuscan Hunting Associations (Arci Caccia, Enalcaccia, Italcaccia e Free Hunt) express their total opposition to the regional provision which would grant farmers immediate intervention and without the presence of supervisory bodies to kill ungulates. "Obviously - reads the note - we are waiting to read the resolution, when it will be sent to us, but reading what has appeared in the press we cannot do otherwise. While sharing the fears of farmers and understanding their need for protect yourself from damage caused by ungulates, we cannot in any way endorse the work of the Region.
The lack of consultation with the hunting world on this provision is absolutely unacceptable. The control interventions, however a good 90% are led by the voluntary work of hunters, from whose pockets also come the funding for the prevention works and for the compensation of damages. This is why we would have liked the Region to involve us in the decision-making process, given that our availability and collaboration it has never failed.
If we had been involved, we would have expressed our doubts about the obligation to intervene under control within 24 hours, doubts about the feasibility, nothing else, and absolute opposition to the direct intervention of farmers on their land, antechamber of that private hunting dear to some associations but not to ours. If we had been consulted we would have asked to pass this, like other matters, to the scrutiny of the Regional Scientific Committee, required by law, appointed but never convened. We would therefore have given our constructive contribution, as always, in the interest of hunters, farmers and the environment; because we are all cogs in a system that, when a piece is missing, inevitably works badly ”.
