“The containment of wild boars will soon be practiced also through selection hunting: the Regional Council of Umbria approved the proposal for the Regulation for the management of hunting of ungulates which inserts the species among those foreseen, further strengthening the measures to stem its abnormal diffusion on the Umbrian territory ". This is what the Regional Councilor for Agriculture and Hunting announces, Roberto Morroni. "After the urgent measures implemented last year, another line of intervention of regional policies for the management of wild boars, whose massive presence is the cause of damage to agricultural production and puts public safety and road safety at risk ”.
"The extension of the species that can be taken with selection hunting also to wild boars, as well as to roe deer, fallow deer and red deer - he explains - has already been the subject of comparison in the Wildlife-hunting consultation, and now finds strength in the new upcoming Regulations. It will in fact be sent to the competent authority Council Commission of the Legislative Assembly to acquire the mandatory opinion, after which it will become operational, putting in place another useful tool for overcoming a problem neglected for too many years ".
The Regulation defines the purposes and methods of the selection hunt for ungulates, including wild boar, the requirements of the subjects involved and, in the transitional and final regulations (Article 9), establishes that the recognition of the authorization for the collection performed with selection hunting is envisaged for hunters already qualified for the species roe and fallow deer, after attending a supplementary course; it is also established the obligation to use non-toxic ammunition (lead-free) starting from the hunting season 2021/2022.
