With a question submitted to the Regional Council on 6 August 2019 the President of the third Permanent Commission of the Veneto Regional Council Sergio Berlato asked the Veneto Regional Council to intervene promptly to induce the Venetian provinces and the presidents of the Territorial Hunting Areas to respect the law and not to impose illegitimate restrictions on hunting which are added to the already restrictive national and regional regulations in force.
Also in his role as Regional President of the Venetian Hunters-CONFAVI Association, the Hon. Sergio Berlato took for example, to present his question, a provision issued by the province of Rovigo that illegitimately established its own hunting density index which is preventing a few dozen hunters from Rovigo from pursuing hunting activities in their own province of residence, as well as another example relating to initiatives by the steering committee of the Territorial Hunting Area of the Portuguese VE1 which would require hunters enrolled in that ATC VE1 to sign declarations that entail the assumption of responsibility regarding the regularity of hunting stalks or compliance with restrictions through phantom associative agreements that cannot, by law, provide for any restrictions on hunting activities in addition to those already provided for by the state or regional legislation in force.
We also receive news of other examples of non-compliance with the regulations in force by the steering committees of other Territorial Hunting Areas of the Veneto - commented the Hon. Sergio Berlato- often made possible by the lack of control by the provinces if not even with the condescension of some provincial officials who, especially now that depend on Region, should guarantee compliance with the law and not indulge the itches of some ATC president who, having assumed their role, proves to be seized by a delusion of omnipotence.
