Arci Caccia - Federcaccia: Siena, the Wildlife Hunting Management in the province of Siena has taken the right path again.
The comparison that led to the agreement signed between the Tuscany Region, Federcaccia and Arci Caccia and shared by the Provincial Administration of Siena, produced the positive result of the convergence on the short and longer term objectives and allowed to immediately start the consequent actions. . Over the last few weeks, some important steps have been taken to overcome the very critical situation - with serious consequences for the environmental and faunal balance, for agriculture, for hunting - which has long characterized the condition of hunting wildlife management in the Province. of Siena and to reconstruct a picture at the height of traditions and needs. The signed agreements have in fact made it possible to unblock the situation of total stalemate that had recently culminated in the crisis of the managing bodies of the ATC, unable to operate due to the lack of answers on fundamental issues and the persistent unwillingness of the Farmers' Organizations to reconstitute the Committees in the their integral composition.
The most recent acts taken by the Provincial Administration and its competent offices by modifying the previous decisions - regarding the intervention methods pursuant to article 37 of Regional Law 3/94, the destination of the animals killed during the control operations, the use of the entire supervisory staff (and not just a few "super agents") for the tasks related to the interventions, the re-examination of the suitable and non-suitable areas and the redefinition within the latter of the most critical areas where to carry out the selection hunt for wild boar - represent first responses and are producing the first concrete effects, with the commitment of Federcaccia and Arci Caccia to guarantee the functionality of the Committees of ATC 17 and 18.
A step forward for the start of a new phase, with the verification in a short time of the actual correspondence between the contents of the documents and the results actually achieved. The imperative need, however, is to immediately put on the table the subsequent stages of the path: review of the Wildlife Plan, guarantees on financial transfers to ATCs, certainties on the settlement of damages, certainties on the agreements between the Province and ATC with particular reference to the Restocking and Capture Areas, guarantee that the full re-composition of the Management Committees of all the Territorial Areas of Hunting of the Province of Siena will be proceeded without further delay and within certain times, with the appointment also of the representatives of the Farmers.
It is in fact evident that in the absence of these steps, even the aforementioned positive outcomes risk not having the desired effects fully: decisive, in particular, is the integral recomposition of the Committees with the full participation of the Farmers' representatives. The hope and the invitation addressed to the new organs of the Province is that they proceed without interruption on this path, immediately promoting the necessary initiatives with all the interested parties. Only in this way, with a joint and shared action, which guarantees the full implementation of the agreement signed between the Region, Province, Federcaccia and Arci Caccia, will it be possible to start the formation of the new ATC management committees so that, in addition to re-establishing the fullness of the representation, are fully capable of developing a coherent and incisive management action as a punctual continuation of the work setting that the agreement has sanctioned.
