Arci Caccia Cuneo: the provincial president, Ezio Cardinale, appeals to the young naturalists / hunters to commit themselves to obtain the “passing of the baton” by continuing the hunting tradition.
Time is running out. Inexorable. The years fly by and suddenly we find ourselves with more past behind us than the future lies ahead. More tired and worn out. Maybe, at times, a little melancholy but no tragedy. It is normal, the "things" of life, of this world, all of them go like this. They are born, they grow up, they die…. or they are transformed, since, it seems, nothing is created and nothing is destroyed. As for the human being, in the face of the passage of time, I believe he should have as few regrets as possible, with the awareness of having, at least, tried to make the most of the qualities and resources that have been donated to him. Those who have the patience to read these few lines and are thirty years old, or a little more, or a little less, can and must feel involved, if they have an interest in the environment in which they live and have a passion for hunting. , do not think you can always delegate to others what you would like to be done right for the habitat and for hunting. You will often be greatly disappointed by entrusting your programs exclusively to others!
Throw yourself into the fray in the first person, make your voice heard strongly, confront each other, "elbow" to make your way, to collaborate, to support but also to obtain the "passing of the baton", in a sector that is still too often plastered in anachronistic mental schemes . Where, unfortunately, deep-rooted political hostilities or belonging to specific groups linked to certain types of hunting, prevent the most open minds, intellectual honesties, from emerging. Each of you with his qualities, his enthusiasm, can and must make a fundamental contribution to improving the environment and, consequently, to the hunt for the future. I repeat, not all in the same way, but each in the way most congenial to him.
Young naturalists / hunters, create among you discussion and work groups above political beliefs, if any still exist, preferences for practiced hunts. Inter-associative groups, also taking advantage of the new opportunities that are disappearing on the horizon with the creation of newborn coordinations between hunting associations. In Piedmont, for example, and even more so in the province of Cuneo, we must and must not only plan the future hunting, not only respond blow for blow to the amenities propagated by the fundamentalist animal rights religion but also try to defend the achievements that have been obtained, with great effort and commitment by a few but tenacious naturalists / hunters, bearers of "basic" logic and not of abstract partisan theories. Progress that is continually under attack from those archaic mentalities mentioned above, which must be eliminated as soon as possible and forever. Too many are the fierce enemies outside our "fort", to be able to afford to have them inside too!
After having encouraged you, exhorted you guys, I do not exempt you from telling you that to do what you are going to do, you must be calm, strong, modest and able to mediate but firm when needed, impervious to sterile criticisms and instead very attentive to constructive ones. But above all tenacious! Constant over time. As long as you suddenly find yourself, with more past behind you than the future ahead of you. Sometimes with a little melancholy, a little more tired and worn out but satisfied with yourself and with those few or many improvements that have been obtained thanks to you or also thanks to you.
The reward of all this commitment? Even two huge prizes !! Looking in the mirror straight in the eye in the morning without feeling the urge to look down and knowing that some people will respect you and love you for what you have said and / or done.
Best of luck!
Ezio Cardinale, pres. prov. Arcicaccia - Cuneo
PS: Mine, as a "witness", for what little attraction it may have, is obviously available for a willing young man willing to make him "run" with greater impetus and effectiveness. 🙂
