The 13th Italian Championship for dogs on wild boar was held in Arezzo; great participation and in first place the Ligurian Giuliano Dimani with his pack of Gascon Saintongeois.
1 Province, 2 ATC, 3 Judges, 5 Municipalities, 12 finalists. These numbers contain the 13th edition of the Italian Championship for dog handlers followed by category A boar. But behind the numbers there are always names that it is always right and pleasant to mention. The Province is that of Arezzo; the ATCs are 2 and 3 (chaired, respectively, by Moreno Caibugatti and Giorgio Kwiatkowski); the 3 judges are Sestilio Tonini and Alberto Geldi (Enci) and Roberto Pro (Fidasc); the municipalities involved in the event are Anghiari and Monterchi (first day of competition), Sansepolcro and Pieve Santo Stefano (second day) and Civitella in Val di Chiana (third and last day).
Under the direct and tireless supervision of the vicar vice president Domenico Coradeschi, the complex organizational operations were handled by the Fidasc Delegate Giuseppe Bartolini, assisted by the usual very valid collaborators of the Asd Giotto and by a very long series of precious "supporters" and great dog lovers. hunting such as Dr. Giancarlo Lippi and Mauro Bergamaschi (for the shifts of the first day) and Dr. Piergiuseppe "Beppe" Migliorini, owner of the splendid Capocontro farm, as well as multiple dog champion and passionate canaio, who hosted the fourth day of competition and the award ceremony which was also attended by Ginetta Menchetti, Mayor of the Municipality of Civitella in Val Di Chiana and the president of the FIdC Gianluca Dall'Olio.
The 12 finalists, 3 for the northern grouping, 6 for the central group, 2 for the south and 1 for Sardinia, had been determined by a very long and very severe elimination phase and presented themselves in full force to the final challenge.
On the first day of competition, in turn order, Domenico De Sanctis (Segugi Maremmani), Massimo Micheli (Griffon Nivernais), Alfio Calzuola (Gascon Saintongeois) and Domenico Filici (Segugi Italiani pr) took the field. The second day saw Marco Antonini (Gascon Saintongeois), Danilo Volpi (Segugi Maremmani), Amos Brufani (Anglo-French) and Marco Barbanera (Ariegeois) competing. The final day was the turn of Giuliano Dimani (Gascon Saintongeois), Michele Vaccaro (Istrian Hounds), Enrico Trombi (Gascon Saintongeois) and Marco Mei (Maremmani Hounds).
In the exquisitely sporting chronicle of the long event, the absence of a qualified pack stands out but this does not detract from the great work that conductors and auxiliaries have done on "free", decidedly and rightly demanding terrain, with a significant presence of wild boar litters, but also of roe deer, fallow deer and wolves which increased the difficulties of the test.
On balance, therefore, the judgment of Tonini, Geldi and Pro rewarded the behavior of five of the six subjects led by Giuliano Dimani, four classified with the qualification of MB and with Gavaroche who deserved the Excellent, always placing a few points above the companions, both for physical qualities and style of the breed and in each of the phases provided for by the regulation: search, approach, bark at stop and in the following. It is above all in this phase that the five subjects showed great compactness and a pleasant vocal harmony. In second place, but with a very minimal difference, was Marco Barbanera with his Ariegeois pack and in third Domenico Filice with his short-haired Italian Hounds.
Understandably satisfied, the vicar vice president Domenico Coradeschi thanked everyone for the passion and commitment with which the important Fidasc event was supported and anticipated that all efforts will be made in the future for the resumption of a great international competition. for dog handlers in pack on wild boar.
