Barbara Mazzali, councilor of the Brothers of Italy in Lombardy region, issued a statement relating to an episode that occurred in recent days. Here is the text of the note: "I met the Pavia police chief yesterday afternoon to discuss the complaint I filed following theassault on two hunters. Safety problems during the exercise of hunting activities are increasingly worrying and for this reason I decided to intervene: they can no longer be silent episodes of violence like that of October 14th.
That Sunday two hunting brothers from Paderno Franciacorta (Brescia) were in Pavia for a hunting trip. Around 8 in the morning, near the "shed", many people arrived yelling, threatening and insulting the two brothers that they were just preparing the equipment without disturbing anyone. The hunters did not react in the slightest to the strong provocations of the anti-hunting group, which on the contrary was verbally very violent, and then filed a complaint. All of this was documented by a video, which I sent to Commissioner of Pavia attached to my statement. The phrases said that morning cannot even be reported, they are so vulgar and full of swear words and insults. Eventually the two hunters had to give up their hunting day, although they obviously had all the necessary permits.
It is clear that the activists' ultimate aim was to hinder the exercise of hunting and discredit the entire category, trying to provoke a violent reaction from the insulted person, in order to then attack him. The tranquility and the coolness maintained by the two brothers convinced the activists to go elsewhere, but by now the damage was done and also another hunter was harassed. In my statement I underlined how "the conduct of the activists in question is attributable to the criminal offense punished byart. 610 of the Criminal Code being sufficient to integrate the crime in question "any behavior or attitude capable of instilling fear and arousing the concern of suffering unjust damage, aimed at obtaining that, through such intimidation, the taxable person is induced to do, tolerate or omit something "."
It certainly is not of sporadic cases, but of a structured activity. So what happened on Sunday 14 may happen again and for this reason I ask for interventions so that hunters can exercise their legitimate right. Especially since many hunters are alone during the hunts and some of them are also very old, therefore in conditions of greater vulnerability. Finally, in the video I am also cited by anti-hunting activists: I have reported everything to the Authorities so that they can verify if there are any elements that could cause fear for my safety. The security and the right for anyone, even for hunters, to move peacefully while pursuing their legitimate activities is one of the priorities proposed by the current Minister of the Interior and strongly received also by the Lombardy Region institution, which is why there is a need for a perceptible presence of the guardians of public order and a prompt intervention response for cases like this ".
