La Provincial Federcaccia of Bergamo issued a press release on the proposed law on selecontrol of wild boars which was presented to the Chamber. Here is the text of the announcement of the hunting association: "Once again, ignorance on the subject, "Bad information", discriminatory campaigns in which hunters are still involved even when they have nothing to do with it.
Once again affirmations that are the only children of ideology, which go beyond any correct perspective of territorial and even administrative management. Brief history: already the Lombardy Region in recent weeks with more insistence he had asked Parliament to work on amending the National Law, 157 of 1992, to allow wildlife checks in support of the few forces left in the provincial police on the subject of wild boars. The animal rights activists cry out to the scandal for a bill that aims to authorize what is requested by the Lombardy Region, among others, in the exclusive name of ideology! Our Provincial President Lorenzo Bertacchi responds on the matter.
First of all, the selection hunting of ungulates is already de facto allowed all year round (since 2005). Here we are dealing only with wildlife controls, of which hunters are not interested in anything, but the administrations do, since they compensate farmers for damages, especially for wild boars and pigeons. And the provincial police, rather than being used in the suppression of poaching, must work overtime at night to kill wild boars, with very high costs for citizens. As I always say, hunters must not lend themselves to helping Public Administrations if they are also to be insulted: still two or three years of e hunters will have to be paid".
