The pandemic year just ended, with the various ministerial prohibitions inherent to the movements for the selection and control of wild boars and wild animals in general, has brought a very heavy balance on the presence and damage caused by wild animals to theMarche agriculture. In fact, Coldiretti's interventions in the pandemic period were very numerous to ask for clarifications regarding the institutional bodies and to periodically restart the controls of the wild animals roaming free in the fields in increasing numbers. Fortunately, taking advantage of the DGR 1469/2018, it was possible to intervene in the funds directly, if in possession of a hunting license, or through trusted selectors, partially limiting the damage.
Thanks also to the DGR 670/2019 it was possible, in a relatively short time, to have compensation for the damage suffered in a reasonable time, going to mitigate the problems that have arisen. What is certain, however, is that today a very important imbalance has been created in the ecosystem that must absolutely be brought back to what are the natural dynamics. It is more and more frequent, in fact, notice hordes of wild boars even in urban centers and, last but not least, the sighting of wolves in farms even within walking distance of people and children. Not to mention the pigeons, which have now reproduced to excess, which invade the fields thousands going to cancel any sowing of agri-food products, a real big problem in some areas of the region.
«The time has come to draw a line - comments the regional director of Coldiretti Marche Albert Frau - and to bring the landscape and the territory back into balance, or we will see worse and worse situations. Our farmers are literally besieged by the presence of pigeons that they totally destroy the sowings, going to consistently increase the damage that the ATC must then compensate. On pigeons - continues Frau - it is necessary a cohesive action between the Region, farmers and hunters to eradicate the problem that creates harm to all without distinction.
As for wild ungulates, the problem is now there for all to see, people are afraid in the city due to the continuous sightings in urban centers even under the house and the wild boar population is uncontrolled and unbalanced; you need a strong awareness and you need to restore an important regional direction throughout the territory so that personalized and different managements do not continue to coexist, which do not and have not brought any appreciable results up to now; farmers are ready to do their part, but also a make their voices heard in a very heavy way if things do not change and the agri-food production of the Marche region will not be protected "
