Membership, biodiversity, land management e role of the hunter in the challenge of energy conversion: these are the main issues addressed by the usual open regional council of Federcaccia Lazio, which has now become a tradition thanks to the commitment of the regional president Aldo Pompetti and his staff. This year it took place on Saturday 15 May in Fara in Sabina, in the splendid agritourism-hunting farm and shooting range Torre Baccelli. The occasion also had a high symbolic value, a meeting in person after the long months of the umpteenth wave of Covid-19, as Massimo Buconi himself underlined the national president of the Italian Federation of Hunting, who, over two years ago, was indicated first by the Lazio region as a candidate for the role he holds today.
A long and structured intervention, that of Buconi, which touched on fundamental themes of every order and degree: from calendars and from bad relationship that many Italian regions have with the regional wildlife-hunting plan - which risks limiting hunting in half of Italy - up to the indiscriminate expansion of parks and contiguous areas, passing through the turtle dove issue - the first two satellite backpacks implanted by Federcaccia a few days ago, in Tuscany - and the ecological challenge of lead and plastic in hunting ammunition. Present, obviously, the regional president Pompetti and its provincial presidents, starting with that of Rieti Fiorenzo Panfilo.
The data relating to membership is good, which this year - despite the pandemic - has registered a drop of just one hundred members, for the most part very old people who more than others have suffered the tragedy of the pandemic. President Pompetti reiterated the need to open up to young people and women, focusing on competition and participation. And speaking of women, the very active Daniela Iovine, contact person for the national coordination, could not be missing Slayers of Federcaccia for Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise. Beside her, Azzurra Rosati, young president of the municipal section of Federcaccia Agosta, in the province of Rome, intervened on the difficult question of the contiguous areas of the National Park of Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise, which - together with the various regional parks - are closing the municipal territory depriving hunters of all the space to exercise their passion.
A meeting will be held shortly in Agosta between the national president Buconi, the regional president Pompetti and the local authorities. The day ended with the presentation of the second edition of the book "Universale and Cappine, paro and paro" by Francesco Bonomo, which was followed by the usual convivial moment based on typical dishes and products of the Sabina, an enchanting land to be discovered.
