They truly seem to never end attacks on hunting. Last example in chronological order the press conference held by the Hon. It shines, champion of animal rights - or, at least, of a part of them - to the Chamber to present its latest bills, always the usual ones indeed, to severely limit, while waiting to ban it completely, hunting in Italy. At the base is the usual supposed mixture of hunting and poaching; numbers without any scientific basis or feedback on the wild caught; reports of violations of non-existent rules or directives; hunters presented as enemies of public order or persecutors of protected and troubled species ... In good company with the vice president of the hunting victims' association - another source of figures artfully inflated with various calculation methods, moreover "beaten" several times even by the most objective press - Hon. Brambilla has thus feared millions of killed wild animals and phantom condemnations of Italy by the EU.
The figures, in both cases, are not true. The "game bags" denounced by Brambilla are more than theoretical even science fiction, since even the numbers of the sampling, like all other aspects of hunting, are strictly established by law by applying principles of great prudence precisely for the protection of wild species. With regard to reported incidents, as we have always done, we too agree that one episode is too much and the commitment to our and others' safety is always very high. Precisely for this reason, however, we find it at least questionable, to say the least, that with usual practice to increase the resonance of one's arguments in the numbers, illnesses, injuries, road accidents and even falls from the stairs of the house are counted if they occurred while going hunting. On the other hand, the figure of 14 children counted among the victims is reported, Clearly "shot" in a cynical and deplorable way to make news and create a climate of hatred towards our category.
In the last 11 hunting seasons, 4 minors have died in hunting accidents. A drama that indelibly marks us first, and on which we find it unspeakable to play. An unacceptable behavior, which we have always fought with the facts and not only in words and that says a lot about how much ideological and systematic hatred towards a category can produce. In recent weeks then, thanks to the debate around the issue of legitimate defense and the transposition of the Weapons Directive, in reality two topics completely separate from each other, with a mix of lack of knowledge that surrounds the world of weapons and weapons outside the practitioners. willingness to address the public opinion in a negative sense to anyone who owns or uses a firearm, newspapers and media have unleashed a sort of witch hunt in which, once again, we hunters are innocent victims. Fortunately in this case at least, a part of the political world has been able to demonstrate calmness and objectivity and we can only thank you for that. So, is chance or all part of a well-researched disinformation strategy? We do not know how to give a precise answer, but it is certain that this climate feeds tensions and conflicts that unfortunately increasingly lead to episodes on the part of some individuals who, hiding behind the balaclavas from animal rights ideology, do not hesitate to pass, as happened recently in Parma, from verbal violence to facts.
It is difficult not to ask how it was possible, in a society where one is very careful, sometimes bordering on the ridiculous, not to touch the sensitivity of others, guaranteeing respect and freedom to express one's ideas truly to everyone, to reach the point that a sustainable activity , lawful, permitted and regulated by laws, subject to a thousand constraints and controls and above all those who make the practice the subject of similar attacks and exposed to a sort of public pillory with almost no one, with some praiseworthy exceptions also in the political world, alongside the hunters by spending a word in support. When you decide to put a stop to this delusional drift it will always be too late. For our part, we will continue to act calmly but the equally deep-rooted firmness of those who know they are right and we will never stop informing by all means - including behavior - that hunting and hunters are quite another thing than what is spuriously transmitted out of ideological conviction or, perhaps even worse, self-interest.
