La Italian Federation of Hunting has decided to comment on an episode that occurred in recent days with an official statement in the province of Verona. This would be the first case ever as regards this area of the Veneto. Here is the full text of the note: “No justification for the ignoble gesture of those who killed a wolf specimen in Lessinia. The wolf is a particularly protected species and as such protected at Italian and European level.
Federcaccia strongly condemns any illegal action aimed at this as well as other animal species not subjected to withdrawal. Waiting to know the results of the examinations in progress, as always, the federation offers investigators the full availability of its structure at any level for help investigations, hoping it will lead to the identification of the person responsible.
Unfortunately, however, we cannot exempt ourselves from underlining how the lack of a serious will on the part of the national legislator to tackle the problem of coexistence between human activities and large carnivores ends up creating situations of grave tension which, as in other cases, lead to very serious gestures like this ". The story was widely reported in the local and national news.
