This is the comment of the President of the Fidc Reggio Calabria - Dominic Iero, in the aftermath of the decision of Calabria Regional Administrative Court that, partially rejecting the appeal of the environmental and animal welfare associations, has readmitted the exercise of hunting on the Coturnix species Coturnix (Quail). “We await the hearing to reaffirm our positions. Federcaccia spends huge resources and energy, making it available the best human capital, for the research and study of habitats and wild species, since we know that hunting, in 2021, cannot only be harvesting but also, and above all, management.
Our commissions work tirelessly, so that the data provided can constitute a first-rate comparison platform, what we firmly want is the proper conservation of species and ecosystems, we believe with conviction that we are more environmentalists and naturalists than many pseudo associations which, with a fundamentalist spirit, try to discredit our category. Once again and as always, the Italian Federation of Hunting is alongside the Hunters and the Institutions, to ensure the correct performance of the hunting activity in full compliance with the rules first and then with an essential hunting ethics. The obligation of a dutiful thanks to the Regional Advocacy runs, for the excellent work done so far. "
Matter of the dispute, the appeal proposed by various animal rights and environmentalist associations, against the current regional hunting calendar, with which they asked for the suspension of hunting on numerous wild species; the TAR Calabria, as a precautionary measure, suspended the sampling in particular on three species: Lapwing, Tortora and Quaglia, postponing to the chamber hearing of 22 September. During this last hearing, the Regional Administrative Court partially rejected the appeal brought by the animal welfare associations allowing the removal of the Quail species and he then postponed the decision for the remaining two species to the hearing on the merits.
"No victory, what we are concerned with is the safeguarding of our ecosystem as much as the plaintiffs, but we ask to be listened to and considered for what we are, decent people, with at heart a territory we know deeply and a disproportionate passion for nature "comments the President Iero (Source: Hunting Federation).
