After the ordinances of the TARs of Calabria, Liguria and Veneto, other confirmations on the validity of the Hunting Calendars based on the indications provided by Face Italia and the Federcaccia Bird Migration Office come from the pronouncements of the Regional Administrative Courts of Lazio and Sardinia.
In the Lazio region, the TAR not only rejected the appeal against the 2012-13 Hunting Calendar by not granting the suspension request, but also issued the sentence on last season's calendar, decisively clarifying the inconsistency of various arguments repeatedly presented by the anti-hunt associations in various appeals. The Lazio region has correctly accompanied both the 2011-2012 calendar and that of the current season with a detailed report containing the reasons for the deviation of the ISPRA opinion, accepting and integrating the FACE Italia document.
The Sardinian TAR in turn rejected the appeal against the hunting calendar of the island and in particular considered valid the reasons given for the failure to comply with the ISPRA opinion regarding the closing dates of the hunt for Thrush bottaccio and Cesena. This ordinance is important for the FIdC since the Regional Fauna Committee of the Sardinia Region, which is the deliberative body on the Hunting Calendar, has voted by majority the document FIdC-Ufficio Avifauna Migratoria (as can be read in the official resolution) as a technical report in support of the choices made on the calendar in deviation from the ISPRA opinion.
So today the song thrush, a species of very high interest for Italian hunters, can be hunted until January 31 in many regions, thanks to the reasons proposed by FACE Italia and the FACE Bird Migration Office, which have obtained recognition from the TAR. In fact, it should be remembered that for this species ISPRA requests the closure of the hunt on 10 January.
Similarly, there are numerous regions that have established the woodcock closure on January 20, departing from the ISPRA opinion which proposed December 31, as well as the aquatic hunting season until January 31, when ISPRA proposed 20. All rulings of the TAR have clarified that the setting of hunting seasons and huntable species provided for by law 157/92 can be maintained, provided that the regional administration correctly reasons for the deviation from the ISPRA opinion.
The Italian Federation of Hunting thanks all the Italian regions that have adopted the proposals of FACE Italia and the Migratory Birdlife Office, reiterating however that all species can be kept huntable and that downward mediations are not acceptable which lead to unjustified penalties for Italian hunters.
