Fox Hunt: Prato, Federcaccia's position is exploited by animal rights activists by reporting references to an old internet page of the official FIdc website.
In an article published in these days on the site "restiamoanimali.wordpress.com" in support of the collection of signatures to stop the killing of 100 foxes decided by the province of Prato, it is stated that "Federcaccia herself on her website affirms the uselessness of numerical control of foxes and the need to implement other types of interventions ", with the link to the page in question. It should be noted that this is a section of the site that is no longer active and dates back to several years ago (but the Internet does not "forget" anything), which contained a series of information sheets relating to Italian fauna with considerations relating to the period of their publication, but not always current today. In this case they are used in a pretext manner to support a partisan thesis whose sole purpose is to prevent, as already happened in Siena, that a public administration can provide, in full compliance with the regulations in force and with the scientific support of Ispra, to a numerical control on a species that today is rapidly increasing and needs a rebalancing that can only be implemented with the withdrawal.
An intervention method whose effectiveness can undoubtedly vary according to different contingencies, but which all of Europe applies to problematic species and which is contested only in Italy for ideological and non-scientific reasons. In short, things change and evolve, logically leading to take different positions with respect to changing issues and conditions. What never changes is the way of dealing with environmental wildlife issues by the usual animal rights activists.
