Hunting: The Competitiveness Decree is law. Ezzelini Storti: "We are now satisfied by the Region, we expect more certainties for hunters". Statement by Giuliano Ezzelini Storti, president of the Arci Caccia del Veneto:
“The Senate has definitively approved the “Competitiveness” decree containing some amendments to the Law 157 / 92 concerning the capture of live decoys and their use in hunting, the possibility of selection hunting for ungulates on snow-covered grounds, loading for semi-automatic rifles up to 5 shots for hunting wild boar and equipping otters (not more protected species) to mice and voles after the Chamber had made some changes in some parts of the decree itself. A tough parliamentary battle has developed over the decree, the result of hatred and animal rights prejudice against hunting.
Parliament rejected the ideological and fundamentalist assault and approved the new rules in compliance with EU directives and in the wake of that environmental reformism so useful to the country. The vote of the Parliament, as well as on the contents, has a strong symbolic and cultural value and our thanks go to all the parliamentarians of the various political forces who supported, by a large majority, the amendments presented by Senators Caleo and Vaccari of the Democratic Party. It was a tough battle, but it showed that if you work in the unity of the contents, the whole hunting world gains and you get significant results.
I strongly want to thank our National President Osvaldo Veneziano because in a continuous work in all branches of parliament he was one of the major proponents of the result achieved, also in keeping a synergy and constant information with the Veneta Arci Caccia structure, pointing out on what points you could collaborate. Now other important signals await the Veneto the world of hunting before the opening of the hunting season: the approval of the new Wildlife Hunting Plan as improved by the CRAVN proposals; simplification of the rules on hunting lodges; hunts in derogation.
As we have done up to now, without demagoguery and many times in silence far from the propaganda clamor, we will continue to work for the good of hunting and hunters ”.
