Ministry of the environment, Ispra and hunting associations together for the protection of the Marsican bear. First step in recognizing the role of hunters as defenders of a biodiversity, a common heritage of the whole community. "Even the Hunting Associations become allies of the Institutions in the 'mission' of protecting the Marsican Bear". Thus the Minister of the Environment Galletti commented on the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry and the Hunting Associations for the protection of a wild that he rightly defined as an "extraordinary symbol of biodiversity". Federcaccia, Liberacaccia, Enalcaccia, ANUUMigratoristi and Arci Caccia thus see their commitment officially recognized alongside the competent administrations to bring a concrete contribution to the country, made up of knowledge of the territory and management skills. A wealth of experience, professionalism and love and respect for the landscape, the environment and all the fauna, beyond and beyond any interest in the collection, which means that even protected species are felt by every hunter as a own patrimony, to be defended and safeguarded in a selfless way, at the service of the whole society.
This is the basis of the signed agreement, the first recognition by the institutions of the often unknown or ignored work carried out by the hunting associations and hunters they represent, in the name of the common good. A passage, for which we thank the Minister for the attention and sensitivity with which he was able to grasp our actions, which opens the way for further steps that will bring the figure of the hunter to be seen in a new and very different light. A path of novelty that projects hunting and hunters towards a role that sees them as the undisputed protagonists of a modern environmental policy, concrete and free of demagogic foreclosures.
Below we publish a press release from the Ministry of the Environment regarding the memorandum of understanding signed with the Hunting Associations for the protection of the Marsicano Bear.

Commitment to less impact on hunting. Galletti: step forward for the protection of an extraordinary biodiversity symbol. Even the hunting associations become allies of the institutions in the "mission" to protect the Marsican Bear. The Ministry of the Environment, Ispra, the Italian Federation of Hunting, the National Free Hunting Association, Enalcaccia, Anuu Migratoristi and Arci Caccia have signed a memorandum of understanding for the protection of the brown bear marsicano through a shared program of implementation of good hunting management practices.
The agreement is fully in line with the provisions of the PATOM Action Plan and the Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 27 by the Ministry, the Regions of Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise and the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. The text provides for unilateral commitments by hunters' associations to reduce the impact of the hunting practice and related activities, promoting information and training for hunters on the correct management methods of species of hunting interest and the conservation problems of the Marsican brown bear. “With this protocol - comments the Minister of the Environment Gian Luca Galletti - we are all taking another step forward in the path started for the protection of the Marsican Bear. Every institution and every interest group has the duty to contribute to the defense of this extraordinary symbol of Italian biodiversity. Today it seems to me that a significant signal has been given in this sense ”.
"The associations - reads the protocol - share the need to proceed, for the purposes of the protection of the Marsican brown bear and on the basis of appropriate maps of the presence of the updated species, to the rapid replacement of the 'hunted', characterized by a high degree of disturbance and risk of impact on 'non-target' species, with forms with less impact such as 'spin' and 'selection hunting', through the training and updating of hunters ”.
"The promotion of a more correct organization of hunting management is envisaged, starting from the drafting of the Hunting Wildlife Plans and the specific Management Regulations of the different species, supporting the competent administrations in defining the prescriptions", the involvement of the territorial hunting areas '(ATC) to support the administrations for the revision of hunting planning', training-updating for a 'correct culture of the management of the species of interest', according to the scientific criteria defined by the technical documents of Ispra ”.
