A historical date to say the least: after two years of contrary opinions, theISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) expressed a favorable opinion about the hare and partridge hunting in Sardinia. How was this possible? The news spread on Agricultural Studies Center (CSA), who dealt with the intricate matter of these withdrawals a few weeks ago. The no to the culls followed one another following the environmental appeals and the rulings of the Regional Administrative Court.
The institution said it was in favor of hunting and opposed to the institution of ATC in the island. This is why prior opinions were requested from ISPRA itself and from the Regional Department of Environmental Defense. Among other things, the authorization limited to self-managed reserves he risked excluding 22 thousand hunters out of a total of 36 thousand.
According to the Institute, the censuses concerning hares and partridges in the reserves just mentioned are sufficient for planning a regional levy, as long as there is authorization for the entire territory (therefore also free land). The Region and the Regional Fauna Committee will have to better define the calendar in the meantime the CSA ensured maximum vigilance, however, the news makes the island hunting world a little less worried after so many disappointments and dry-mouthed seasons.
