Hunting: The Province of Brescia authorizes the huts after the positive opinion of the "Torbiere del Sebino" Nature Reserve on the Impact Assessment prepared with the decisive contribution of the FIdC Bird Migration Office.
Fixed the issue of the renewal of permissions to the six fixed stalking hunting sites located in Lake Iseo, which the province of Brescia had revoked following the request of the Lombardy Region to prepare the Impact Assessment. These ambushes pre-exist both the establishment of the SIC-SPA area of the Torbiere d'Iseo and the shifting of the borders of the Nature Reserve, which took place in 2011, and for this reason they are located less than 400 meters from the new border. On the basis of a questionable interpretation of the regulations, the Lombardy Region at the time of the renewal of the provincial authorization requested the Impact Assessment to allow the stalking to remain, an assessment that must be approved by the managing body of the Nature Reserve.
Thanks to the coordination of the ACMA delegate of Brescia Geom. Domenico Bianchi, and with the support of Federcaccia Brescia, an overall incidence study was prepared for the stalking by doctors Andrea Lavarini and Simona Bianchetti. This study was subsequently supplemented, also at the request of clarifications from the Nature Reserve, by a technical document prepared by the FIdC Bird Migration Office, which analyzed the ten-year trends in the withdrawals of anatidae and coot carried out in the stalking, together with the results of the winter censuses. of the most common species of ducks both in the lake and in the peat bogs, and of a selection of protected species typical of the reserve area.
The results showed that the sampling is not dependent on the winter presences in the peat bogs, and only partially dependent on the presences on the lake. Furthermore, the ten-year trends of winter presence of various protected species in the peat bogs are favorable, with the exception of ichthyophagous birds. In summary, the activity of the huts, as they are today on the lake, did not have a negative effect on the presence of birds in the reserve.
This result confirms once again that the technical and scientific contribution is crucial for the maintenance and sustainability of Italian hunting traditions, also in comparison with the bodies that manage the protected areas.
