La Hunting Faunal Council of Umbria was long awaited and ended with a series of very important measures as regards hunting in the region. To preside over the work was Fernanda Cecchini, regional councilor for hunting: wanting to briefly summarize the results achieved, we need to talk about the revision of the regional legislation, the evaluation of the Wolf Plan and the financial statements relating to hunting season 2016-2017.
As explained by the commissioner, the modification of the regional law on the subject has been started, that is, the one concerning the protection of wildlife, hunting and the management of the Territorial Hunting Area. As regards the calendar just ended, satisfaction was expressed for the Government's failure to appeal and the "natural" closure of the hunting woodcock, cesena and song thrush.
Furthermore, the Umbria Region was one of those that asked for the postponement of the plan controlled killing of wolves during the recent State-Regions Conference, in order to investigate the various measures envisaged. Going back to talking about the legislative change, Cecchini explained that the innovations will have to meet the current needs of the sector: the number of ATCs will remain the same (there are three, Perugia 1, Perugia 2 e Ternano-Orvieto), with the possibility that they can centrally manage some services.
