After a long discussion phase and following the necessary steps of confrontation that took place in recent weeks with the hunting associations and the various stakeholders, the Tuscan regional council on the proposal of the Vice President Saccardi, during the session this afternoon [18 July, ed], he approved the text of the new regional hunting calendar for the 2022/23 season. An indispensable act that officially launches the new hunting season and that overcomes a climate of uncertainty that has arisen in recent days, also given the pressures and controversies generated by the animal rights and environmentalist front.
At the moment the full text of the provision has not been disclosed and we will publish it as soon as possible, postponing any further information and considerations as soon as it will be possible to know the contents in detail. From the latest news gathered at the competent department and following the consultation phase mentioned above, the new calendar does not differ from that of the past seasons, reconfirming a well-established system in our region.
Without prejudice to the opening and closing dates of the hunt (third Sunday of September / January 30), the pre-opening will be held, which in any case will be governed by a specific resolution that will be approved later. No "surprises" on the timing of sampling of the main migratory species (anatidae and turdidae with closure on January 30, 2023) and for the woodcock for which the closure of January 30 is reconfirmed albeit with some particular limitations (for the month of January maximum game bag 6 total heads of the 20 seasonal).
Skylark 100 seasonal animals maximum 20 per day for specialist hunters with live calls and 20 of which 5 per day for those who hunt without live calls.
The collection of turtledove has been reconfirmed for a maximum of 10 seasonal items and the limit of 5 per day with the exclusive use of the App Toscaccia electronic card.
On this aspect it seems that it will be possible to return to the paper card for those who will use the Toscaccia App on the pre-opening dates provided that this choice is made within the day before the general opening (17 September). reading of the approved text.
It should be pointed out that for the sampling of the pochard and lapwing we will almost certainly proceed with separate resolutions corresponding to the technical-scientific indications for the sampling of these species (at the moment they are not foreseen among the species subject to sampling).
For the hunt for the sedentary, it will start with the general opening on Sunday 18 September. The hare hunt will end on 8 December, while for the pheasant it will arrive at the canonical date of 31 December.
Respect for the time frame for wild boar hunting has been confirmed, which will take place in various forms (single shot and hunted) with different opening and closing periods based on the requests of the individual provincial realities (hunted 1 October 31 December or 2 November 30 January ).
For non-suitable areas, the collection of the wild boar in single form with the follow-up dog will also be allowed in the period 9/31 December.
For dog training and training the start is scheduled for Sunday 21 August 2022 with any limitations (to be checked on the official text) on the timetables, also in consideration of the climatic conditions. (limitation of the times allowed in the period 21/27 August only from sunrise until 11 in the morning).
