Hunting in Lombardy: the 2012-2013 Hunting Season has opened in a satisfactory way in the Province of Milan.
The 2012/2013 Hunting Season kicks off yesterday in the Province of Milan which counts 77.229 hectares of pastoral agro-forestry territory of which 18.600 are prohibited, 54.680 are planned hunting and 3.949 are private initiative for 7.621 resident hunters.
The opening was satisfactory also in consideration of the negligible number of infringements found (5 administrative and no penalties) compared to over 500 checks carried out by the staff of the Provincial Police, by the voluntary hunting guards and by the ecological guards.
Among the hunting teams there are also many young people including Giovanni Spina (born in 1994, 18 years old in July), resident in Ozzero, awarded with a plate from the Province of Milan by the provincial councilor Luca Agnelli together with the Commander of the Provincial Police of Milan , Riccardo Perini. The controversies that inevitably accompanied the opening of the Hunting Season, however, did not affect the Province of Milan.
In this regard, the Provincial Councilor for Agriculture, Parks, Hunting and Fishing, Luca Agnelli declared: “It is evident that the legislation in force is outdated and today no longer satisfies either hunters or protectionists. But if it is not possible to reform it, it is because the debate on hunting is monopolized by that part of the hunting world that pretends to do what it wants, and by that animalist component that has as its goal not the conservation of nature but only the humiliation of the hunter. . In between there is a majority of sensible people who must return to the debate on hunting and work together for sustainable hunting. Hunters and environmentalists can find a meeting ground, for example on the continuous loss of habitat and on land consumption ".
Also yesterday, the commissioner Agnelli met the patrols of the Voluntary Ecological Guards of Milan together with the Commander of the Provincial Police of Milan, Riccardo Perini, the President of ATC 1, Gianraffaele Congiunti.
