News on the pass from ANUU Migrators: The first Fein-style thrush and the massive presence of the Coal Tit.
The north wind brought good weather after the rain on Wednesday 12 September, which kept the sky clear and sunny over the whole of Lombardy until Saturday evening. The clouds, which covered the morning of Sunday 16, then dissolved in the afternoon, played a role in containing the cold air from the north towards the southern side of the peninsula with a general drop in temperatures of 4-6 degrees compared to the beginning of the week. In this context, the passage of the Estatine migrants is almost complete, giving way to species with more autumnal migratory attitudes.
This is the case of the Nannies who, after having given more than 700 ringings at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory of Arosio, with a more than excellent presence, have given way to the Capinera, certainly abundant, which for several days has been recording excellent numbers of ringings, as on Thursday 13 September with as many as 33 subjects analyzed, equal to 60% of the species captured in the single day.
A significant signal of abundant presence is being transmitted by the various Blackbirds who run into the plant networks that have reached more than 45 units. Suffice it to say that in 2011 only 8 were analyzed throughout the year. Will it be a good year for this species? This is a question that technicians often ask themselves these days at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio.
It is not new that this graceful paris appears occasionally in a more or less numerous way, so much so that ornithologists know how evidently its presence is variable from one year to the next. The friendly Black Tit, however, is always a welcome visit to the Observatory and its presence is part of a conspicuous number of species analyzed during the year in addition to the capture of the first two migrating bottacci thrushes which took place on Sunday 16 September, after Saturday 15 already an individual was observed inside the structure without, however, being captured.
