Another accident caused by wild. Again, as often happens, wild boars. But they can be fallow deer, red deer, roe deer or otters. The number is constantly increasing, so much so that it is hardly newsworthy if the result is only a more or less damaged car. Sometimes, however, the driver or passenger must be complained of being injured or, as in this last case, even more serious because it occurred even on a motorway section, one death.
Given the dynamics, the accident could have assumed much worse dimensions, and we express all our condolences and closeness to those involved. We do not want to enter into the controversy about possible responsibilities, which will be evaluated by the investigating bodies. But we certainly cannot fail to emphasize once again the need for political acknowledgment of a situation that is now out of control and which requires a review of the management policies implemented by the country.
In the first place, urgent, the need for a reform of 157/92 that will finally enable the Regions to act in an organic and above all continuous way, whose intervention plans for the containment of invasive species and wildlife controls have always been subjected to animal rights appeals and complaints that limit its effectiveness and implementation. A situation made even more serious by the now well-known sentence of the Constitutional Court which prevents the public administrations from employing trained personnel belonging to the hunting world in containment operations - something very different from hunting - under the control of the local police.
Thus, for an interpretation that is perhaps correct from the legal point of view but certainly wrong from that of logic and common sense, and for the refusal to update - if not in a perspective that is not further restrictive - an outdated law that is no longer in step with the times in order not to dissatisfy the animal rights currents present within each party, qualified and free labor is refused, discharging the responsibility to stem the responsibility of stemming from cuts and reforms on increasingly reduced staff and specific skills a problem that is now an emergency. Let's just hope that this umpteenth tragedy announced at least serves to make those in charge think that a human life is worth more than a few lost votes or the cries of protest of animalists possessed out of reality and society.
