Mr Barbara Mazzali, Lombardy regional councilor summarized his interview granted to Hunting House: "I have not denied, in recent days, the errors made by the Lombardy Region in drafting the hunting calendar, errors that then led to the suspension of the Tar and everything that followed and that we unfortunately know very well.
I have not denied the responsibilities of Regional Council, I said, and I had no qualms about sending President Fontana a letter in which I asked for the removal of the managers who had made a mistake.
Having said that, however, the problem does not end here, there is much more. And I am referring to the excessive powers that Ispra is taking and that is not due to it. The hunting activity cannot be decided by Ispra: it is not its role and it is not its task, yet we have more and more the impression that his power is spreading. And in the same way the hunting activity can go on with provisions of the TAR, suspensions, reopenings, hearings and decisions of the judges. The competences are of the Regions and they must return there. The Regions must have the possibility to decide the hunting calendars, without intrusions and pressure. Instead, in recent years we have been witnessing a process that does not go well: the Regions decide, but then Ispra intervenes, which instead of assisting it imposes itself.
We must remember that your opinions are mandatory but not binding. Here, this is no longer acceptable and it even is illegitimate. Everyone has to go back to doing their job. Ispra advises and the Region decides. When Ispra came to the agriculture committee to be heard during the hearings, I remember that I urged the representatives who had spoken and received partial or unsupported answers by scientific evidence. This is to say that this State Body appeared to all not super partes, as it should be, but political: for years it has been putting the entire Italian hunting sector in serious difficulty with also economic damage to the world of industry, craftsmanship and trade.
Thanks to a climate hostile to our world and a society subjected to animal rights, Ispra has arrogated to itself powers that it does not have.. And the result is there for all to see. The Ministry must say clear words on this and must bring its body back into the ranks of its competences. And at the same time the Regions must disengage, without fear of repercussions: we are in the wake of the law and we must not surrender to those who come out of it ”.
