After the decision of the Province of Novara to activate the wild boar hunting in the protected areas of Ticino Park, a similar choice will be made for the Lagoni di Mercurago Natural Park. This is the Piedmontese natural area that rises between the municipalities of Arona, Dormelletto, Comignago e Oleggio.
Local authorities, Territorial Areas of Hunting and park authorities are at the forefront to deal with the emergency represented by these ungulates: farmers have denounced destruction and damage to no end, therefore the new intervention tools are necessary as never before. The problem is felt more in the peripheral areas of the parks and in that of Ticino 24 specimens were killed in the month of November just ended (18 were females to be precise).
In that of the Lagoni, hunting trips have also been organized, but the only activity allowed is there capture by means of cages, given that the area is considered to be of low criticality. On December 31st, however, the plan that provides for this low danger will expire and it will also be possible to start in the area in question with turns and same techniques that have been applied in the Novara area.
