A few days ago the Sardinian section of the association Hunting Fishing Environment intervened to deny the risk of extinction that would concern in this historical period hares and partridges. Now we go back to talking about these two species, after the hunters of the self-managed reserve "Idol of Arzana" (in the province of Nuoro) have decided to focus on the ancient springs found in this part of the island.
The goal is to build tanks in which partridges and hares can find water to drink. For many, the decline in the two populations is due to predators such as wild cats, minks, foxes and martens. However, the hunters remembered how they are available two half days for these withdrawals, consequently the time is short to be able to look for responsibilities in the hunting world.
The ancient springs could therefore be recovered within the reserve: the waters would go to feed the game tanks, but they would also be useful for taming the fires. The older shotguns have provided useful information to understand the exact location of the springs: there will be an investment of about 6 thousand euros, but a lot will also have to be done to reduce the number of predators and bring back a numerical balance between the various species.
