"Full support to the farmers and ranchers who took to the streets in Milan this morning to raise awareness of the now dramatic problem of proliferation of wild boars and pests. In Piazza Città di Lombardia, as well as a Montecitorio, today's protest is a cry for help from thousands of workers who continually see destroyed fields, plundered orchards, animals in danger of African swine fever brought by the wild. In Lombardy region I presented more than one motion on the problem of invasive animals, so that the Government asked the Ministry of Agricultural Policies that this emergency could be equated to a state of natural disaster.
The approach to managing both wild boar and other harmful animals that cause incalculable damage on the territories must be completely rethought. Nutrie, voles, ungulates, cormorants, pigeons, hybrid species: when they are redundant and out of control they create big problems for farmers, river infrastructures, fishermen (in the case of cormorants), embankments, photovoltaic panels ...
Add to this the safety hazards, given that the animals push themselves on the busy streets and even in the cities among the people. There is certainly a problem of ineffectiveness of the actions undertaken so far: the Ministry should wake up for the good of the workers and the territory ”. He declares it Barbara Mazzali, regional councilor of the Brothers of Italy.
