Poaching on the Apennines. Last night, between Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, the Carabinieri of Lama Mocogno, in the province of Modena, stopped a car carrying some people carrying in the trunk the carcasses of a boar and a roe deer that have just been killed.
The agents of the Provincial Police also intervened on the spot with regard to the offenses relating to the non-compliance with the legislation on hunting.
In fact, the poachers were sanctioned for illegal taking of ungulates while the carcasses of the culled animals were seized; further investigations are still underway to verify any other irregularities.
Wild boar hunting is allowed in collective form for authorized hunters and in any case it is never allowed to hunt in the middle of the night. It is possible to carry out, with the coordination and authorization issued by the Province, the numerical control plans of the wild boar for hunters or farmers who have carried out a specific training course.
Furthermore, roe deer hunting is regulated by a specific regional regulation for the hunting of ungulates, is carried out exclusively in a selective form and is currently closed and will resume from 1 January 2016.
The Provincial Police coordinates the numerical control of wild boars for damage to livestock on the basis of specific regional and provincial regulations. The operation is the result of constant collaboration between the provincial police and the Carabinieri to ensure control of the territory in order to prevent and counter the illegal activity of poaching.
