Il Criminal Court of Livorno decided to convict the former press officer of the LAV (Anti-Vivisection League). The case dates back to five years ago, when the president of theNational Association of Italian Veterinarians (ANMVI), Marco Melosi, decided to sue the woman, who was given a sentence of one month in prison, then converted into € 7500 fine. Furthermore, he will also have to compensate the damages suffered by Melosi himself.
In 2012, the employee became the protagonist of the publication of two press releases, which were then taken up by the print and online newspapers. In the first press release, the LAV Press Office had reported false news, namely the involvement of the doctor in the defense of the “Green Hill” beagle farm. The denial by Melosi's lawyer was useless, given that in the second press release the press officer spoke of a "pathetic defense", confirming the very serious allegations.
The lawsuit was inevitable, also because the veterinarian has been vilified by many parties, in particular by social networks, without forgetting the harassment and anonymous threats (even towards the family). The criminal proceedings have now come to an end and the LAV employee will have to pay the substantial fine.
