The regional offices of the Campania ofANUUMigrators, Arci Caccia, Enalcaccia, Game Producers, Federcaccia, Italcaccia e Free Hunt they wrote a joint statement after the hearing on November 28th. The latter had as its theme the possible suspension of hunting in Campania due to fires and droughts. The associations believe that a modification of the hunting calendar 2017-2018 is currently illogical and irrational.
The representatives who took part in the hearing raged above all against the hunt for pochard and woodcock, which can be withdrawn respectively until 20 and 31 January 2018 in this region. The document presented to justify the suspension is from Professor Maurizio Frassinet, but it is not in line with the data relating to the two species, so much so that even ISPRA believes the period in which to hunt the pochard is right up to January 20, as well as for the woodcock (species judged to be of least concern in all European countries).
The hunting associations of Campania also believe that the Frassinet document is excessively alarmist, without responding to the real status of the two populations. For all these reasons, it was asked to maintain the regional hunting calendar for the 2017-2018 season, including i periods involving pochards and woodcocks, as there are no technical, legal and scientific reasons.
