October data
“As of October 12th there were 10.834 wild boars killed in control. In some provinces such as Cuneo falling in restriction zone 2, increases in culling have grown up to 100% in the last year. We are awaiting the definitive data on the "planned" culling activity which started on 17 September and which by 12 October had 2.350 animals killed": Fabio Carosso, vice-president of the Region with responsibility for coordinating the management activities of the plague epidemic African pig, thus responded to a question in the Regional Council which asked what actions have been undertaken to implement the agenda regarding the containment measures of ASF and the depopulation of wild boars.
The fences on the territory
Carosso then specified that the fences on the territory of the province of Alessandria have been completed and tested, precisely five lots out of the five planned (Olbicella-Abasse, Abasse-Acqui Terme, Borghetto di Borbera-Mongiardino Ligure, Borghetto di Borbera-Novi Ligure, Acqui Terme-Predosa) and that "interlocutions with the Extraordinary Commissioner Caputo continue and are frequent, together with the councilors for Agriculture Protopapa and Health Icardi".
The measures of the national government
The vice president also summarized the measures decided by the national government:
Ministerial decree 29 April 2022 15 million euros, of which over 8,5 allocated to the Region. The Department of Agriculture has proposed to the European Commission an amendment to the PSR 2014-2020 - Measure 5.1.1, in order to support companies willing to make investments to strengthen biosecurity measures. The total budget was 12.430.262 euros. The change was approved by the Commission and a tender was launched which ended on 16 April 2023. All 343 companies that submitted applications were financed and the opening of a further tender is being evaluated to allow those who do not have participated in being able to access the funds. One of the priorities for the Council is the safety of the Piedmontese pig sector.
Ministerial Decree 28 July 2022 Total resources of 25 million, of which 15 destined for agricultural companies and 10 for processing companies.
