Mr Francesco Bruzzone, Senator of the League, recently presented a question addressed to the Ministry of the Environment (in the meantime "replaced" by that of Ecological Transition) to solve once and for all the problem of alien species found in our country. According to Bruzzone, they were not enacted the most effective guidelines in this regard for the eradication of invasive species.
As highlighted in the question itself, “the continuous depletion of the conservation status of most habitats nationwide, also due to the spread of invasive alien species is known, supported by numerous studies which reveal the occupation of ecological niches by many alien species to the detriment of native ones ".
The senator stressed that the guidelines published in 2018 by theISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) have not become an urgent act to be addressed to public administrations and citizens. This is why the department led until recently by Sergio Costa it should involve stakeholders, ie farmers, hunters, fishermen and the owners of the funds.
